Drive Confidently with the 2017 Honda Fit Safety Features
Active Safety and Driver-Assist Features
The 2017 Honda Fit has active safety features across all three trim levels. These features help drivers to drive better by providing valuable information—as in the case of the tire pressure monitoring system and the rearview camera—or to assist in braking and over- or understeering. Here are some of the active safety features you’ll find on the Honda Fit:
Vehicle Stability Assist – Adjusts brake pressure and engine power to mitigate oversteer or understeer conditions so the Fit stays sure and steady on the road.
Daytime Running Lights – Activates headlights automatically without the driver’s input. So whether you’re hopping in the car quickly or on a long trip through weather changes, you won’t have to think about turning your lights on—the Fit has you covered.
Multi-Angle Rearview Camera – Lets drivers see around the Fit in three different modes: normal, top-down, and wide. The EX and EX-L trims feature dynamic guidelines to further help drivers back up out of tight spaces easily.
Brake Assist – Can automatically apply brakes to prevent collisions when dangerous situations are detected.
Tire Pressure Monitoring System – Monitors and notifies driver of tire pressure. When the pressure drops below the desired amount, a warning will be issued to notify the driver.
Steering Wheel–Mounted Controls – Allows drivers to make changes to the audio or access connectivity features without taking their hands off the wheel.
Passive and Other Safety Features
Many design elements and other features have been engineered to make the Fit one of the safest vehicles on the road. Its Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure distributes frontal crash energy throughout the Fit to ease the location of impact and help protect everyone inside. Other passive safety features you’ll find on all Fit models in 2017 include:
- Dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags
- Front side airbags
- Side curtain airbags with rollover sensor
- 3-Point seat belts at all seating positions
- Front 3-point seat belts with automatic tensioning system
- Driver’s and front passenger’s seat belt reminder
- Child-proof rear door locks
Power and Fuel Economy
In addition to offering drivers some of the best safety features available, from active and passive safety to driver-assist technology, the Fit also offers outstanding power with a very impressive fuel economy. Under the hood is a versatile and athletic 1.5L 4-cylinder engine that produces up to 130 hp and 114 lb-ft of torque. That is a mighty feat for a subcompact vehicle, and the Fit doesn’t sacrifice a fraction of fuel efficiency for that amount of power. In fact, the Fit has some of the best fuel economy estimates of its class, with the 6-speed manual transmission drivetrain able to achieve an EPA-estimated 29 city / 36 highway / 32 combined mpg.* A continuously variable transmission is also an available option on the first two trim levels and is the standard transmission on the top-of-the-line trim. With the CVT equipped, drivers will get an estimated 33 city / 40 highway / 36 combined mpg.*
The subcompact size of the Honda Fit allows it to ease through tight spaces and maneuver through traffic. But inside, thanks to an ingeniously designed cabin, there is enough space for passengers and cargo alike. The rear Magic Seat in the second row can be transformed into four modes: utility, long, tall, and refresh. Altogether, the maximum cargo space available in the Fit measures at 52.7 cubic feet. You’ll have enough room in the Fit for a small couch, a bicycle with the wheels on, or even a snowboard.
Technology and Comfort Features
The Fit doesn’t stop with just safety and versatility features, it also has a long list of technology and convenience features that bolster the comfort level of everyone inside. Some of the standard or available features you’ll find inside include:
- Cruise control
- Rear window defroster
- MP3 player
- Auxillary input audio jack
- Keyless entry and push-button start
- 7-inch touchscreen
- Navigation system
