Safety in the Odyssey starts with its innovative body design. The Advanced Compatibility Engineering Body Structure utilizes a complex network of frame structures that absorbs crash energy and distributes it away from the occupants sitting inside the cabin. It also minimizes the amount of force transferred to the other vehicle involved in the collision.
The Odyssey includes a long list of passive safety features including seat belts, locks, and airbags. These vital features may go unnoticed at first glance but are there for you when you need them most.
A list of active features ensures that the Odyssey is performing at its best on the road and avoids safety risks even through inclement weather and less than ideal road conditions. These features help the Odyssey come to complete stop more quickly in an emergency braking situation, maintain good tractive control with the road, and ensure that the Odyssey is clearly visible to other vehicles on the road with LED Daytime Running Lights.
Every model of the Odyssey features a multi-angle rearview camera that allows drivers to check their surroundings before backing up. Drivers will be able to see obstacles in the path of the Odyssey that would be too low to see using the mirrors alone. And with guidelines as a standard feature, and dynamic guidelines as an upgraded feature on the upper trim levels, drivers can maneuver in and out of tight spaces with ease. The camera includes three different angles, each offering an optimal view for different driving situations.
Honda Sensing is a suite of driver-assistive technology that helps drivers drive more safely on the road. The package is standard starting with the EX model and includes state of the art systems that warn, prevent, and mitigate collisions and incidents.
Starting with the EX model, the Odyssey comes equipped with a Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Monitor. The system is designed to help drivers change lanes on the highway more safely by helping drivers see more within their blind spot range. When a vehicle is within the Odyssey’s blind spot range, an illuminated icon will appear in the side mirror. If the driver signals a lane change when there is a vehicle within that range, the icon will blink and an audible alert will sound, notifying drivers that it is not yet safe to change lanes.
