The 2019 Honda Pilot Safety

The 2019 Honda Pilot is a remarkable three-row SUV that is spacious for both passengers and cargo. And with agile handling, quick acceleration, and available AWD, the Pilot is capable and poised for all season driving. But it’s the safety features, design, and driver-assistive technology that makes the Pilot one of the safest SUVs on the road. Named a a Top Safety Pick+ from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety, the Pilot gives drivers and families greater peace of mind.

  • Passive and active safety features protect the occupants inside the cabin
  • Honda Sensing suite of driver-assistive technology includes collision prevention systems
  • More safety features throughout the trim levels including Blind Spot Monitoring

Advanced Compatibility Engineering Body Structure

Safety in the Pilot starts with it’s innovative design. The Advanced Compatibility Engineering Body Structure utilizes a complex network of frame structures to absorb crash energy and distribute it away from the occupants sitting inside the cabin. It also minimizes the amount of force transferred to the other vehicle involved in the collision, keeping everyone on the road safer.

And with guidelines as a standard feature, and dynamic guidelines on the upper trim levels, drivers can easily maneuver in and out of tight spaces. The camera includes three angles, each offering an optimal view in different driving situations.

  • Normal – Check for a clear path behind the Pilot before reversing.

  • Top-Down – The top-down angle is especially helpful when parallel parking.

Honda Sensing

Honda Sensing comes standard on every model and is a suite of driver-assistive technology designed to help drivers drive more safely. The package includes systems that warn, prevent, and mitigate incidents and collisions on the road.

Blind Spot Monitoring System with Cross Traffic Monitor

Standard starting the the EX model, the HR-V comes equipped with Blind Spot Monitoring System that is designed to help drivers see more than when using the mirrors alone. The system issues a warning light on the the side mirror when a car is detected within the blind spot range—about 10 feet from each side of the Pilot and about 15 feet back from the front doors. When a lane change is signaled and there is a car in the blind spot, the warning light will blink and an audible alert will sound, letting drivers know that it isn’t safe to change lanes.
