Safety in the Pilot starts with it’s innovative design. The Advanced Compatibility Engineering Body Structure utilizes a complex network of frame structures to absorb crash energy and distribute it away from the occupants sitting inside the cabin. It also minimizes the amount of force transferred to the other vehicle involved in the collision, keeping everyone on the road safer.
The Pilot features a long list of passive safety features comprised of airbags, seat belts, and locks. These important features may go unnoticed at first glance but are there to keep you safe should the worst happen.
The active safety features of the Pilot ensure that the SUV is performing at its best, even amid inclement weather and slippery road surfaces. These features help the Pilot avoid safety risks by maintaining good tractive control with the road, coming to a complete stop more quickly in an emergency braking situation, and ensuring the Pilot is clearly visible to other drivers on the road with Daytime Running Lights.
Every model of the Pilot comes equipped with a multi-angle rearview camera that allows drivers to check their surroundings before backing up. And with guidelines as a standard feature, and dynamic guidelines on the upper trim levels, drivers can easily maneuver in and out of tight spaces. The camera includes three angles, each offering an optimal view in different driving situations.
Honda Sensing comes standard on every model and is a suite of driver-assistive technology designed to help drivers drive more safely. The package includes systems that warn, prevent, and mitigate incidents and collisions on the road.
Standard starting the the EX model, the HR-V comes equipped with Blind Spot Monitoring System that is designed to help drivers see more than when using the mirrors alone. The system issues a warning light on the the side mirror when a car is detected within the blind spot range—about 10 feet from each side of the Pilot and about 15 feet back from the front doors. When a lane change is signaled and there is a car in the blind spot, the warning light will blink and an audible alert will sound, letting drivers know that it isn’t safe to change lanes.
