Safety in the Insight begins with Honda’s innovative Advanced Compatibility Engineering Body Structure. The design utilizes a complex network of frame structures to absorb crash energy and distribute it away from the occupants. In the event of an accident, it minimizes the amount of force transferred to the other vehicle involved and keeps everyone on the road safer.
The Insight includes an extensive list of passive safety features including seatbelts, locks, and airbags. These features might go unnoticed at first, but they’re there for you when you need them most.
The active safety features inside the Insight help reinforce its reliability on the road, even in inclement weather or challenging road conditions. These features help the Insight maintain good tractive control with the road, come to a complete stop more quickly in an emergency braking situation, and remain clearly visible to other drivers while illuminating the way ahead.
Every model of the Insight comes equipped with a multi-angle rearview camera that allows drivers to check their surroundings before reversing. And with guidelines as a standard feature, and dynamic guidelines as an upgraded feature on the EX and Touring models, drivers can maneuver in and out of tight spaces with ease and confidence. The camera includes three different angles, each offering an optimal view for different driving situations.
Honda Sensing is a suite of driver-assistive technology features that comes standard on every Insight model. With systems that warn, prevent, and mitigate impacts, the package helps drivers see more, do more, and drive more safely.
The EX and Touring models come equipped with Honda LaneWatch. The system uses a small camera mounted to the passenger’s side exterior mirror and displays a live video feed of activity going on in the driver’s blindspot. The video displays on the 8-inch audio touchscreen inside the cabin and allows drivers to see up to four times more than using the mirrors alone.
As drivers explore all three trim levels, they’ll find even more features geared toward safety. Speed-sensitive audio compensation will automatically soften the audio volume when the Insight slows down and the driver needs to focus, such as in a merging situation or when entering into a parking garage. And with voice recognition technology, drivers can input instructions to the navigation system without taking their hands off the wheel or their eyes off the road.
